What is the main advantage of four processor cores on a dual core?

I wonder why it is better (or perhaps worse) to have a quad-core processor for more than two core. In addition, when making labels processor speed, as well as 2.44 GHz, is that for every nucleus, or all nuclei together? So if I had a quad-core processor at 2 GHz would be a total of 8 GHz?

The advantage of a four cores on a dual quad core is that the core can execute four operations at once without having to wait for an open core and the dual core can only perform two operations simultaneously. 2.44GHZ is the operating speed of all drivers. But that does not mean that 2.00 x 4 = 8. Think of it as moving to a new location. If you have a truck and has to move four loads to be expected the truck to return before taking the second load. But if you have four trucks, you can do all at once. However, the trucks will be driving 55MPH, not faster.
